Budget Session of Federal Parliament Begins

Kathmandu: The budget session of the Federal Parliament is set to begin today, following a formal summons by President Ramchandra Paudel on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.

The meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) will commence at 1:00 PM. According to the business schedule released by the Federal Parliament Secretariat, Speaker Devraj Ghimire will begin the session by informing members about the official commencement of the budget session and recent changes in the Council of Ministers.

On the first day, Finance Minister Dr Bishnu Prasad Paudel is scheduled to table the Principle and Priorities of the Appropriation Bill, marking the beginning of budget-related discussions. Leaders of various political parties will also be given time to address the House and present their views on national priorities.

Prime Minister and UML Parliamentary Party Leader KP Sharma Oli is expected to deliver an address in today’s session, according to his personal secretariat.

The ongoing session will feature the tabling of the government’s policy and programmes, as well as the annual budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The budget session is a crucial phase in the country’s legislative calendar, laying out financial planning and policy direction for the government.
