Dang: CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel has stated that Nepal’s monarchy was never in favor of the people. Speaking at a program commemorating the 41st memorial day of communist leader Netralal Abhagi, Pokharel said the current activities of monarchist supporters are against the spirit of the people’s movement.
Pokharel also emphasized that Nepali youth should focus on building the nation by contributing domestically rather than seeking opportunities abroad. “Going abroad is a compulsion for some, but many leave with high hopes. We should focus on sweating for our own country,” he said.
Paying tribute to Netralal Abhagi, he highlighted the late leader’s contribution to founding the Communist Party’s presence in Dang. “Abhagi left his job as a school principal to strengthen the Communist movement. He was a committed teacher and talented writer,” Pokharel noted.
He urged today’s generation to draw inspiration from Abhagi’s life, describing him as an honest, selfless leader who set an example of integrity.
