Kathmandu: The Narayangadh–Butwal section of the East-West Highway has been completely blocked since last night due to heavy rainfall, severely affecting traffic movement, according to the District Police Office, Nawalpur.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhu Nepal, the office’s Information Officer, informed that the Binayi River diversion, which was being used as a temporary route in the absence of a bridge, has been washed away by flooding. In addition, mudslides and slippery road conditions in areas such as Bishwakarma Temple and Ghyukhola on the Dumkibas–Daunne road section have made driving extremely difficult.
With traffic at a standstill, police have advised travelers to use alternative routes until the situation improves.
Recommended Alternate Routes:
-For east to west travel:
Use the route via Narayangadh – Mugling – Pokhara – Syangja – Butwal.
-For west to east travel from Kathmandu:
Travel via Mugling – Pokhara – Syangja – Butwal.
-For west to east travel (general):
Use Butwal – Syangja – Pokhara – Mugling – Narayangadh.
-For small vehicles:
You may use the Gaindakot (Nawalpur) – Pipaldanda (Palpa) road of the Kaligandaki Corridor, but only after confirming road conditions.
The police have urged all travelers to stay updated on road conditions and to exercise caution for a safe journey.
