Nepal Crushes Bhutan 6-1 in SAFF U-20 Women's Championship Opener

Kathmandu: Nepal made a commanding start to the SAFF U-20 Women's Championship, defeating Bhutan 6-1 in their opening match in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Striker Purnima Rail was the star of the match, netting four goals, including a hat-trick, while Senu Pariyar added two goals to the tally. Bhutan's Kelden Wangmo scored the lone consolation goal for her side.

Nepal took an early lead in the 9th minute with a goal from Senu Pariyar. Purnima Rail doubled the lead in the 18th minute, and Senu scored again in the 45th minute, giving Nepal a comfortable 3-0 advantage at halftime.

Bhutan pulled one back in the 54th minute, but Nepal quickly regained control. Purnima struck again in the 63rd minute, completed her hat-trick in the 84th, and added a fourth goal just before full-time in the 89th minute.

With the victory, Nepal earned 3 points. The tournament features four teams competing in a double round-robin format. Nepal will face host nation Bangladesh in their second match on Sunday.
