Kathmandu: The seventh meeting of the Nepal-India Border Task Force was held on Tuesday in New Delhi, with both countries agreeing to introduce new technologies for the inspection and mapping of border pillars to enhance the management of the Nepal-India border.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Nepali delegation was led by Prakash Joshi, Director General of Nepal’s Survey Department, while the Indian team was headed by Hitesh Kumar S. Makwana, Director General of India’s Survey Department.

The meeting reviewed the implementation status of decisions made during the sixth task force meeting held in Dehradun in August 2019, as well as the progress of the follow-up meeting of Survey Department officials held the following month in the same location.

In a positive development, both sides signed multiple agreements and agreed to organize the next committee-level meeting of Survey Department officials in Nepal next month. The next Border Task Force meeting will also be hosted by Nepal, with the date to be finalized at mutual convenience.

Formed in 2014, the Nepal-India Border Task Force serves as a joint mechanism for coordinating and resolving border-related issues between the two neighboring countries.
