Kathmandu: Salt Trading Corporation Limited has announced that 1.523 million bags of chemical fertilizers have arrived at the Kolkata port in India, and the process to transport them to the corporation's warehouses in Nepal is underway.

The recent consignment includes 440,000 bags of urea and 1.083 million bags of DAP, according to the corporation.

Distribution Plans in Coordination with Provinces

The corporation stated that it has written to the provincial governments to allocate fertilizer quotas to municipalities for local-level distribution. Provincial authorities have already distributed the quotas to respective municipalities, it added.

“All dealers registered as fertilizer sellers of the corporation are requested to coordinate with their municipalities and the relevant offices of the corporation to sell and distribute fertilizers as per the allocated quota,” the corporation said in its statement.

Clarification on Reports of Fertilizer Shortage

Responding to reports circulating in various media and social media platforms regarding a shortage of chemical fertilizers in the market, the corporation assured that distribution will take place as soon as transportation from Kolkata is completed.
