Kathmandu: Nepali Congress lawmaker Dr. Shekhar Koirala has alleged that the CPN-UML manipulated the provision related to the cooling-off period in the Federal Civil Service Act. Speaking at a program in Kathmandu on Saturday, Koirala claimed that UML lawmakers moved an amendment in the National Assembly to remove the provision under instructions from higher authorities.

“There is nothing hidden in this matter anymore. We have kept it secret so far, but now there is no need,” Koirala said. “When journalists asked why UML MPs proposed the amendment, they said it was because of directives from above. UML is cheating; there is no doubt about that,” he added.

Questions Good Governance, Warns on Corruption

The Congress leader further criticized the state of governance in the country, saying, “The level of good governance is near zero, and corruption is increasing day by day.”
