President Poudel’s Constitution Day Message: Call for Unity, Good Governance, and Prosperity

Kathmandu: On the occasion of Constitution Day, President Ram Chandra Poudel extended his greetings to all Nepalis, emphasizing that Nepal’s constitution has united the nation’s ethnic, linguistic, religious, cultural, and geographical diversity into a single thread of national unity.

Commitment to Federal Democratic Republic

President Poudel expressed confidence that the federal democratic republican system of governance will inspire citizens to work toward sustainable peace, good governance, development, and prosperity. He reminded everyone that the Constitution of Nepal envisions an egalitarian society built on social justice and a socialist-oriented economy.

He stressed the importance of equal access to constitutional rights and services, including guaranteed social security for all.

Call to Action for Implementation

The President urged citizens to make honest and effective efforts through “mind, word, and deed” to translate the spirit and essence of the constitution into everyday practice.

Highlighting Nepal’s natural and cultural wealth, President Poudel stated that the country holds immense potential for employment and income generation. He expressed his belief that if injustices are eliminated and water resources and energy are managed wisely, Nepal can soon stand at the forefront of prosperous nations.

Appeal for Social Harmony

President Poudel called on all citizens to refrain from actions that could disrupt harmony and coexistence. He emphasized that the constitution guarantees equal protection to Nepal’s Himalayan, hilly, and Terai regions, as well as its multi-ethnic, multilingual, and multicultural identity.

Tribute to Martyrs and Leaders

Marking Constitution Day (National Day) — commemorating the promulgation of Nepal’s constitution on Asoj 3, 2072 BS — President Poudel paid heartfelt tribute to all known and unknown martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the establishment of the federal democratic republic.

He also praised the leaders of political parties and citizens across the country who participated in the historic movements that paved the way for Nepal’s current democratic system.
