President Poudel Urges Political Parties to Focus on Upcoming Elections
Calls for unity to safeguard democracy, constitution, and stability

Kathmandu: President Ram Chandra Poudel has urged political parties to concentrate on the upcoming House of Representatives elections, saying it is essential to protect the country, people, democracy, and the constitution.
Speaking at an all-party meeting held on Sunday at Sheetal Niwas, the President emphasized the need to move forward with the elections scheduled for Falgun 21 (February 21). The meeting was attended by representatives of the interim government and major political parties.
President Calls for Confidence and Cooperation
According to the President’s Press Advisor Kiran Pokharel, President Poudel advised the government to ensure peace, security, and public confidence to conduct the elections in a free and fear-free environment.
He urged the parties to remain united in safeguarding democracy and to raise any doubts or ambiguities through dialogue.
“If we start seeking alternatives beyond elections, we must ask ourselves — where will the country end up?” he said, calling on leaders to go among the people with clarity and commitment to addressing the demands of the Gen-Z movement.
Political Parties Emphasize Fair and Fear-Free Elections
Leaders from various political parties reiterated their commitment to democratic values and said that the elections must be held in a peaceful, fair, and credible manner. They also urged the government to guarantee a secure environment throughout the process.
Prime Minister Assures Peace and Security
Prime Minister Sushila Karki assured that the government is fully committed to holding the elections in a free, fair, and fear-free atmosphere.
“The government understands that elections are not possible without the participation of the parties,” she said.
Acknowledging the Gen-Z group’s dissatisfaction, Prime Minister Karki added, “They are our sons and grandsons. We should understand their grievances and accept necessary changes. Moving forward accordingly will serve the nation and the people.”
