Kathmandu: The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has once again called the attention of all traders and consumers to ensure that goods sold and distributed during the festive season display the mandatory maximum retail price (MRP).
Monitoring reveals missing price labels
According to the department, recent market inspections found that several items commonly used during Tihar — including Bhai Masala, copper and silver utensils, and electrical materials for decorative “Jhilimili” lights — were being sold without MRP labels or price lists.
Effort to stabilize festive market
The department said it is actively working to maintain price stability by balancing demand and supply during the festive period. It added that business associations, entrepreneurs, and consumer organizations all have an important role in ensuring a fair and transparent market environment.
Public urged to report violations
Consumers have been reminded to buy only those goods that carry an MRP label or price list. The department has also requested the public to report any violations or irregularities by calling its toll-free hotline number 1137.
