Kathmandu: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has significantly increased the price of aviation fuel, impacting both domestic and international flights.
A meeting of the corporation’s Board of Directors decided to raise the price of aviation fuel for domestic flights by Rs 124 per liter. With the revision, the price has jumped from Rs 127 per liter to Rs 251 per liter.
Similarly, the price for international aviation fuel has also been increased. In Kathmandu, the rate has risen from $966 per kiloliter to $1,785 per kiloliter, marking a sharp hike.
Despite the increase in aviation fuel, NOC has kept the prices of petrol, diesel, kerosene, and cooking LPG unchanged for now. The corporation stated that these prices will remain in effect until the next adjustment.
According to NOC, although the Indian Oil Corporation recently raised prices—petrol by Rs 41.60, diesel by Rs 94.93, and LPG by Rs 190.36 on March 31—the corporation has not passed on those increases to consumers in Nepal.
However, NOC warned that maintaining current fuel prices despite rising import costs could result in a projected loss of around Rs 13.21 billion if adjustments are not made accordingly.
