Kathmandu: A group representing the Gen-G movement has urged the government to facilitate the organization of Gen-G conferences in all districts and a central convention in Kathmandu to strengthen unity among members across the country.
During a sit-in protest at Maitighar, demonstrators called on the government to create an environment conducive to organizing the conferences and warned against factionalism and division within the movement.
“Gen-G conferences should be held in every district, and a central convention should be organized in Kathmandu, where representatives from across Nepal will participate,” said Gen-G representative Sadiksha Rai, adding that provincial representatives would be selected through these gatherings.
Rai emphasized that the current government, formed through the sacrifices of martyrs, carries the hopes and responsibilities of the new generation. She urged the government to act as a guardian of the Gen-G generation, ensuring transparency, unity, and cooperation in times of national crisis.
Another participant, Madan Karki, who was injured during the Gen-G movement, cautioned members not to align with political parties and instead focus on collective unity.
“All Gen-Gs across the country must unite. The government’s support is crucial for this,” he said.
Protesters carried placards with slogans such as “Fulfill the demands of Gen-Gs,” “Do not forget the blood of martyrs,” and “Nation first, ego later.” Families of the injured and martyrs from the Gen-G movement of Bhadra 23 and 24 also joined the sit-in, pressing the government to address the movement’s pending demands.
