Kathmandu: Nepal Communist Party (UML) Chairman and outgoing Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has warned that his party will launch nationwide protests demanding the restoration of the dissolved House of Representatives.

Calls Dissolution “Unconstitutional”

Speaking to party leaders and cadres at his residence in Gundu, Bhaktapur, on Thursday, Oli accused the current government of lacking the capacity to govern democratically and instead pushing the country toward dictatorship.
He said, “The government, which has no ability to run the country under democratic principles, has dissolved the House of Representatives to rule dictatorially.”

President’s Decision a “Mistake”

Oli criticized President Ram Chandra Poudel, claiming that he made a “mistake” by approving the dissolution recommendation of what he called an unconstitutional government.
“The President has dissolved the House under articles of the Constitution where there is no such provision. It should not have been done,” Oli said, asserting that the UML will continue its movement until the dissolved parliament is reinstated.

UML to Form Youth Volunteer Force

Oli also announced that the UML has decided to establish a Youth Volunteer Force to “maintain peace and security” in the country.
He said the move is aimed at ensuring stability while the party prepares for peaceful demonstrations demanding the protection of constitutional governance.
