Gokarneshwor Named Best Municipality in Health Services in Kathmandu

Kathmandu: Gokarneshwor Municipality has been recognized as the best in health service delivery among the 11 local levels of Kathmandu district, according to the annual review conducted by the District Public Health Office, Kathmandu.
The evaluation, based on the implementation of health programs in the last fiscal year 2080/81 (2023–24), assessed the quality, accessibility, and effectiveness of health services provided by each municipality.
Gokarneshwor Municipality, which has been declared a Yoga City, operates 45 regular yoga centers across all its nine wards. The Gokarneshwor Municipal Hospital offers free health services to permanent residents, while citizens also receive discounted treatment at partner institutions including Nepal Medical College, Nepal Orthopedic Hospital, and Shankarapur Hospital, said Hari Prasad Upadhyay, Chief of the Municipality’s Health Unit.
According to the Public Health Office, Shankarapur Municipality ranked second, while Tokha Municipality secured third place in the district-level assessment.
Gokarneshwor had also achieved the top position in the previous fiscal year (2079/80), maintaining its consistent performance in local health service delivery.
