President Ram Chandra Poudel Arrives in Japan on Four-Day Official Visit

Kathmandu: President Ram Chandra Poudel arrived in Japan on Monday on a four-day official visit at the invitation of the Japanese government. He was received at Narita International Airport by the Chief of Protocol of Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Toru Maeda, and Nepal’s Acting Ambassador to Japan Harihar Kanta Poudel.
President Poudel, who left for Japan on Sunday night leading a Nepali delegation including First Lady Sabita Poudel, will participate in a special ceremony marking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Japan, according to Press Advisor Kiran Pokharel.
During the visit, President Poudel is scheduled to pay a state courtesy call on Japanese Emperor Naruhito at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. He will also hold courtesy meetings with Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Horie Iwao.
The President will interact with members of the Japanese business community and attend a reception organized in his honor by the Nepali Embassy in Japan.
Nepal and Japan established diplomatic relations on September 1, 1956. The visit is expected to further strengthen the long-standing bilateral ties between the two countries. President Poudel is scheduled to return home on Wednesday, Magh 21.
