Kathmandu: Prime Minister Balendra Shah has said that the government under his leadership is committed to bringing visible improvements to the daily lives of Nepali citizens through good governance, inclusive economic growth and policy stability.

Speaking during a joint meeting with ambassadors of the European Union, EU member states, and other foreign diplomats based in Kathmandu and New Delhi at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Sunday, Prime Minister Shah said the government clearly understands the urgency of the current national situation and the responsibility entrusted to it by the public.

According to Prime Minister’s press and research expert Deepa Dahal, Shah told diplomats that Nepal’s recent election results had delivered a strong public mandate for good governance and inclusive prosperity.

“Being new does not mean being disconnected from the past,” Prime Minister Shah said during the meeting. “We are fully committed to protecting democratic values and ensuring political stability by keeping Nepal’s policy direction clear, stable and predictable.”

He assured the diplomatic community that there would be continuity in Nepal’s policies even under the new administration.

Prime Minister Shah reiterated that his government aims to strengthen good governance while promoting inclusive economic development. He said Nepal wants to take advantage of opportunities in the global market to create jobs and economic opportunities for citizens.

He also emphasized the government’s commitment to simplifying administrative processes to attract large-scale foreign investment, encourage innovation and achieve sustainable development goals.

On foreign policy, Shah stated that Nepal would continue pursuing a balanced and pragmatic diplomatic approach.

“Relations with our neighbors, development partners and friendly nations are guided by the principles of mutual respect, sovereign equality and shared prosperity,” he said.

The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to Nepal’s development partners and friendly countries for their continued support toward Nepal’s development and prosperity. He also stressed Nepal’s interest in strengthening cooperation in sectors including trade, investment, green energy, climate action and tourism.

During the meeting, Shah also commented on global conflicts, saying ordinary civilians suffer the most during wars and instability. He stressed that dialogue, diplomacy and international law should be prioritized over military confrontation to maintain global peace.

Foreign diplomats attending the meeting praised Nepal for conducting peaceful elections and congratulated Prime Minister Shah on leading the new government.

The ambassadors also expressed readiness to cooperate with Nepal and expand investment partnerships in multiple sectors aimed at supporting economic growth and national prosperity.
