Kathmandu: Prime Minister and senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Balendra Shah, has warned that individuals involved in corruption and the misuse of government property will face strict action.

Addressing the party’s first national convention in Chitwan on Sunday, Shah said the government remains committed to investigating past irregularities and holding those responsible accountable through legal processes.

Response to Recent Controversy
The Prime Minister's remarks come amid controversy surrounding reports that employees of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority were allegedly detained for several hours at the Prime Minister’s Office. Shah rejected suggestions that the government had acted improperly and said his administration is fully cooperating with constitutional bodies responsible for investigations.

He stated that consultation, questioning, and coordination with investigative agencies are part of a legitimate process aimed at uncovering misuse of public resources.

“We Will Look for the Reasons”
Speaking at the convention, Shah emphasized that the government would continue to investigate cases where public property or state funds may have been misused.

According to him, if government assets have been exploited or public funds have been improperly spent, authorities have a responsibility to identify the causes and hold those responsible accountable.

He argued that investigations, consultations, and inquiries should be viewed as part of strengthening governance rather than as interference in independent institutions.

Commitment to Rule of Law
The Prime Minister maintained that his government operates within the framework of existing laws and regulations and does not intend to exceed its constitutional authority.

He also suggested that public perceptions created through social media and political narratives may not accurately reflect the actual situation, claiming that government institutions remain functioning and under control.

Focus on Good Governance
Shah concluded by reiterating his government's commitment to good governance, transparency, and accountability. He said investigations into alleged misuse of public resources would continue through legal channels and in coordination with constitutional bodies.

According to the Prime Minister, maintaining public trust requires that allegations of corruption and misuse of state assets be thoroughly examined, regardless of who may be involved.
