President Ram Chandra Poudel Calls for Patriotism, Unity and Good Governance on Bhimsen Thapa's Birth Anniversary

Kathmandu: President Ram Chandra Poudel has said that Nepal's freedom and identity are rooted in the sacrifices, courage and patriotism of its ancestors, urging citizens to preserve those values while building a prosperous future.

Speaking at the 225th birth anniversary celebration and award ceremony honoring national icon Bhimsen Thapa on Friday, President Poudel said Nepalis are able to stand proudly today because of the dedication and bravery of those who defended the nation's sovereignty.

Learn from History to Build the Future
The President stressed the importance of drawing inspiration from the positive lessons of history.

"We can do justice to the present only by embracing the positive aspects of our history. I believe this will also pave the way for building a better future," he said.

He noted that the sacrifices made by Nepal's forefathers to safeguard the nation's independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty deserve lasting respect and remembrance.

Strengthen National Unity
President Poudel called for reinforcing national unity through mutual respect, friendship, tolerance and social harmony.

He urged citizens to nurture patriotism among younger generations while working collectively to make Nepal more prosperous.

"We must strengthen national unity based on brotherhood, friendship, tolerance and solidarity. Together, we should eliminate corruption, irregularities and distortions, and accelerate national development through good governance. That will be the truest tribute to our brave ancestors, including national icon Bhimsen Thapa."

Tribute to Bhimsen Thapa
Paying tribute to Bhimsen Thapa, President Poudel described him as a visionary statesman and patriot who remained steadfast in defending Nepal's sovereignty.

He said Bhimsen Thapa's unwavering commitment to the nation helped preserve Nepal's independence despite the heavy costs of the Anglo-Nepalese War.

According to the President, Bhimsen Thapa's patriotism, leadership and dedication continue to serve as an enduring source of inspiration for the country.
