Nepali Cyclists Determined to Make Mark on Global Stage

Kathmandu:  Nepal is set to make its debut in the UCI Cycling World Championships, marking a significant milestone for the nation in the realm of cycling.

The 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships, taking place in Glasgow and across Scotland, will witness the participation of a male cyclist, Suraj Ranamagar, and a female cyclist, Usha Khanal, in the MTB Cross Country Championship. The event commences on August 3 and concludes on August 13.

Suraj Ranamagar and Usha Khanal are not only representing Nepal in the World Championships but have also been selected to compete in the 19th Asian Games. Usha Khanal, a prominent athlete, has previously secured a silver medal in the MTB Cross Country Championship during the 13th SAARC Games.

The Nepali team, led by team manager Ranjan Rajbhandari, who is also the General Secretary of Nepal Cycling Association, is all set to depart for Scotland on Sunday. This grand sporting event is expected to see the participation of over 2,600 athletes from various corners of the world, competing in 13 separate UCI World Championships.

As Nepal's cyclists venture into the global arena, the nation eagerly anticipates their performance, hoping for a memorable and successful debut in the prestigious UCI Cycling World Championships.
