Pokhara. Speakers at a two-day seminar on the challenges of Sanskrit education emphasized the importance of scientifically studying Sanskrit literature. The seminar, organized by the Research Management Unit of Bindhabasini Sanskrit Vidyapeeth in Pokhara, aimed to increase awareness of the scientific aspects of Sanskrit literature. Although the speakers acknowledged the existence of science in Sanskrit literature, they felt that society was unaware of it.

The speakers also discussed the need for investment in Sanskrit education. Associate Professor Guru Prasad Subedi argued that the lack of government investment in Sanskrit education was the main reason why it could not be managed well, and people were not attracted to it. The speakers urged the Sanskrit University to invest more in education to prepare at least two experts every year from each of the university's 17 departments in order to preserve the classic aspects of culture.

Chief of Bindhyabasini Sanskrit Vidyapeeth, Dr Jagannath Regmi, emphasized the importance of state attention to make Sanskrit education more prominent. Other speakers suggested that original teaching and learning methods could be developed to improve Sanskrit education, as the national education policy had badly impacted it. They also argued that the erosion of morality in society could be attributed to the lack of Sanskrit education.

In conclusion, the speakers at the seminar stressed the need to raise awareness of the scientific aspects of Sanskrit literature, increase investment in Sanskrit education, and develop new teaching methods to improve its relevance. They also urged the restoration of the social system reflecting Nepali originality.
