Inclusive Information Policy a Government Priority: PM Dahal

Pokhara: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has highlighted the government's focus on implementing an inclusive and democratic information and communications policy.

Speaking at the Freedom Fighter Dayashankar Palikhe memorial journalism award ceremony organized by the Federation of Nepali Journalists in Kaski, Pokhara, he emphasized the importance of such a policy to ensure access to mass media for people from all classes, regions, castes, languages, and communities.

Prime Minister Dahal reiterated the government's commitment to protecting and promoting the media as a national service-oriented industry. He emphasized the need for professional and institutional development within the media sector to benefit media personnel.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Dahal expressed his dedication to establishing necessary structures, infrastructure, and policies to guarantee freedom of thought and expression, the right to information, and press freedom.

Regarding transportation, he mentioned ongoing efforts to initiate international flights to and from Pokhara International Airport, in collaboration with neighboring countries.

Praising the contributions of freedom fighter Dayashankar Palikhe, Prime Minister Dahal highlighted the positive message sent by the award established in his memory, not only in Pokhara but across the country.

During the ceremony, Prime Minister Prachanda presented the Freedom Fighter Dayashankar Palikhe Memorial Journalism Award to Dipendra Shrestha and posthumously to Tribhuvan Poudel.
