Kathmandu: In a significant development, a four-point agreement has been successfully reached between Iih, a social activist and campaigner, and the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC). Iih had been staging a standing protest in front of the KMC office at City Hall, advocating for an alternative arrangement for street vendors.

The agreement, signed by Iih and the executive committee member Chinikaji Marhajan on behalf of the KMC, has led to the postponement of Iih's protest activities. Notably, Iih had stood continuously in front of the KMC office for 199 hours.

Key points of the agreement include:

Return of Confiscated Goods: The goodies confiscated from street vendors will be returned by the metropolis to the respective owners.

Formation of a Committee: A committee will be formed to determine the place, time, and people who could be involved in street business. The committee will also arrange methods, procedures, and legal frameworks for providing the place. A report is expected to be submitted to the KMC within two months. The designated locations for street vendors will adhere to legal guidelines.

Committee Composition: The committee will consist of three people appointed by the KMC, two representing campaigner Iih, and one each from the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Urban Development, Traffic police, and street vendors.

This resolution marks the end of Iih's standing protest and sets the stage for addressing the concerns related to street vendors in Kathmandu.
