Prime Minister Dahal Urges Strong Advocacy for Climate Change Issues

Kathmandu: Nepal's Prime Minister, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, commonly known as 'Prachanda,' has emphasized the importance of Nepal clearly presenting its claims in addressing climate change problems. During a meeting regarding Nepal's participation in COP28, Prime Minister Dahal discussed the need for Nepal to lead the world in addressing climate change issues.

In the meeting, which was held at his official residence in Baluwatar and included key government officials, Prime Minister Dahal stressed that Nepal should present its claims effectively and assertively. The discussion also revolved around preparations for COP28, which is a crucial international climate conference.

"We are leaders on this issue, and our documents should reflect that leadership. Let's present Nepal as a strong advocate this time," said Prime Minister Dahal. He also mentioned that a conference on this topic is scheduled for November 21, with the government aiming to bring the conclusions of this conference to COP28.

Prime Minister Dahal insisted that foreign aid and compensation received for climate change mitigation should be channeled through the government system. He suggested that this issue should be communicated clearly during COP28.

The meeting included high-ranking officials such as Bharat Raj Paudyal, Secretary of the Foreign Ministry, and Deepak Kumar Kharal, Secretary of the Ministry of Forest and Environment.
