28 Injured in Clash Between Police and Demonstrators at Balkhu

Kathmandu: A clash between Nepal Police and demonstrators at Balkhu on Thursday resulted in the injury of 28 individuals, including police personnel. According to the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, five police officers and 23 demonstrators sustained injuries during the confrontation, which occurred while the police were working to control the crowd and ensure security.

In the aftermath of the clash, 17 of those injured, who received minor injuries, have returned home after receiving initial treatment. Meanwhile, six individuals are currently undergoing treatment at Medical College, Sinamangal, Kathmandu.

The demonstrators, gathered at a large rally organized by the Durga Prasain-led campaign, reportedly threw stones at security personnel. In response to the escalating situation, the police had to deploy 157 tear gas shells and fire five rounds of rubber bullets to bring the situation under control, as reported by the Kathmandu Valley Police Office.
