Kathmandu: Speaker Devraj Ghimire has stressed the importance of effectiveness and result-oriented approaches in the activities of parliamentary committees. During a meeting with the chairpersons of the 10 thematic committees under the House of Representatives, Ghimire urged the timely resolution of challenges related to quorums in committee meetings and the responsibilities associated with received bills.

Highlighting the need to garner attention from relevant parties through the chief whip and whip, Ghimire expressed his commitment to supporting the implementation of committee instructions and reports. The meeting engaged in detailed discussions regarding the government's failure to adhere to directives from the committees. Chairpersons from various committees unanimously emphasized the necessity for the government to implement the directives provided by parliamentary committees.

The meeting included chairpersons from committees such as Finance, International Relations and Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Labor and Consumer Interest, Law, Justice and Human Rights, Agricultural Cooperatives and Natural Resources, Women and Social Affairs, State Affairs and Good Governance, Infrastructure Development, Education, Health and Information Technology, and the Public Accounts Committee under the House of Representatives. The collective call for effective committee actions and government adherence to directives underscored the discussions.
