Man Arrested for Character Assassination Through Social Media

Kathmandu: Nepal Police have taken a person into custody on charges of character assassination through the use of social media.
The Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police arrested 42-year-old Chaturman Mahato, originally from Chitwan Ratnanagar Municipality ward no.10 and currently residing in Kathmandu. Mahato is accused of befriending a woman and using edited photos, audio, and video content to defame her on social media platforms.
According to Superintendent of Police Pashupati Kumar Rai, the arrest was made under the provisions of the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063 BS. Mahato is currently under investigation for his alleged involvement in the character assassination case.
