Major Parties' Top Leaders Agree to Advance TRC Bill

Kathmandu: In a meeting at the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar, the top leaders of the three major political parties concluded with an agreement to pass the Bill on the Commission on Investigation of Disappeared Persons, Truth and Reconciliation (TRC) during the upcoming winter session of the Federal Parliament. The parliamentary approval of the TRC Bill marks a crucial step toward completing the remaining tasks of the country's peace process.

PM's Personal Secretary Ramesh Malla reported that the leaders agreed to move forward with the TRC Bill, currently in the parliamentary committee, and prioritize its passage in the winter session. The leaders emphasized the importance of making victim-centric laws in the transitional justice process. CPN (UML)'s parliamentary party whip Mahesh Bartaula stated that the UML is ready to seek consensus on victim-centric laws and that the PM expressed readiness to address the issue in the upcoming session.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (UML) Chair KP Sharma Oli, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka, Minister for Law Dhanraj Gurung, and other leaders from the three parties participated in the meeting convened by the Prime Minister.
