Kathmandu: Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' asserted that leaders of all political parties in Nepal are influenced by the ideas of the late BP Koirala.

Speaking at an event organized by the Nepali Congress (NC) to mark the 48th National Unity and Reconciliation Day, PM Dahal acknowledged BP Koirala as a towering and popular leader of the democratic movement.

He expressed gratitude to the NC for providing an opportunity to make new resolutions and commitments for the country and its citizens by inviting high-ranking leaders from various political parties that have contributed to democracy. PM Dahal called for consensus among all political parties to complete the remaining tasks of the peace process, assuring his commitment to finishing these tasks.

Addressing the achievements of the current coalition government, PM Dahal highlighted initiatives in social justice, addressing issues related to loan sharks, citizenship, and laborers, among others. He expressed sorrow over the incident in Balkumari, Lalitpur, on the previous Friday, where two youths lost their lives. PM Dahal informed that an investigation committee was formed to probe the incident, and steps were taken to provide compensation to the victims' families.

The National Unity and Reconciliation Day is observed by the NC on the 16th day of the Nepali month of Poush every year, commemorating the return of its founding leader BP Koirala and other leaders to Nepal after eight years in exile in India.
