Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda,' currently in Kampala, Uganda, to attend the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), met with the Nepali diaspora community in Uganda. Expressing delight at the interaction, PM Prachanda emphasized the importance of addressing the concerns of Nepalis living abroad for the progress of the country.

During the meeting, Minister for Foreign Affairs NP Saud urged the Nepali citizens in Uganda to contribute to uplifting Nepal's dignity, considering themselves as non-resident ambassadors of the nation. The Chairman of the Non-Resident Nepalis Association (NRNA) Uganda, Rama Aryal, expressed the community's joy at receiving the prime minister and acknowledged the PM's supportive role.

Approximately 350 Nepalis are working and residing in Uganda, contributing to the development, construction, and trade sectors, according to the patron of NRNA Uganda chapter. The NAM Summit, held under the theme 'deepening global cooperation for shared global affluence,' is a platform for discussing ministerial reports, reviewing the implementation status of the 18th NAM summit, and passing a Kampala declaration.

Prime Minister Prachanda is scheduled to address the summit during his visit to Uganda. Nepal, as a founding member of NAM, actively participates in the summit, aligning with the nation's fundamental foreign principles of non-alignment.
