Gandaki: Nepali Congress (NC) President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba emphasized that the party's strength lies in working for the welfare of the people with a focus on placing them at the center. Speaking at the District Conference of Nepali Congress Kaski in Pokhara, Deuba asserted that people are paramount in a democracy.

Deuba highlighted that the NC was established to serve the Nepali people, emphasizing the need to connect with citizens across the country and support them in both joy and sorrow. He stressed the significance of internal unity within the party, stating that collective efforts are essential to make NC a stronger political entity.

In his address, Deuba underscored the importance of political coalitions in the context of the country's politics. He called for unity among pro-democratic forces to safeguard the democratic constitution, noting that the peace accord had facilitated the integration of Maoists into the democratic process.

President Deuba also mentioned the inclusive provisions of the Nepal Constitution, providing equal participation for all castes and ensuring 33% women's participation at every level of the state. He pointed out that the constitution mandates the presence of a woman chief or deputy mayor in every municipality, a provision unparalleled in the constitutions of other nations.
