Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' secured a vote of confidence from the parliament, marking his fourth attempt since assuming office in December 2022.

During the session:
The Prime Minister presented the proposal for the vote amidst vociferous protests from the major opposition party, Nepali Congress, and other dissenting lawmakers. Despite the disruptions, Speaker Devraj Ghimire put forth the proposal, which received 157 votes in favor, none against, with one lawmaker choosing neutrality. A total of 158 lawmakers participated in the voting process.

Opposition's Actions:
Nepali Congress lawmakers protested by picketing the well of the parliament and chanting slogans against the proceedings. Their persistent demand for the establishment of a parliamentary committee to investigate alleged financial misconduct by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs has led to ongoing disruptions in parliamentary activities.

Future Implications:
The successful vote of confidence for Prime Minister Prachanda underscores the political challenges facing Nepal's governance. With opposition parties maintaining pressure for accountability, the government's ability to address these concerns while ensuring stability remains a critical concern moving forward.
