Kathmandu: Gagan Kumar Thapa, Member of the House of Representatives (HoR) and General Secretary of the Nepali Congress, has called for the return of savings to victims of cooperative fraud.

Speaking during a discussion on the annual estimates of revenue and expenditure for the fiscal year 2024-25, Thapa emphasized the importance of timely reimbursement for savers affected by cooperative scams.

Thapa urged the recently formed Parliamentary Investigation Committee on cooperatives, established on May 28, to thoroughly examine the issues to ensure a fair resolution.

He noted that while most cooperatives are functioning well, a few have engaged in fraud and embezzlement, tarnishing the sector's reputation. Therefore, he stressed the need for a critical investigation by the committee to address these malpractices.
