Democratic Forces' Role for Political Stability: Leader Dr. Koirala

Kathmandu: Nepali Congress leader Dr. Sekhar Koirala has emphasized the need for democratic forces to actively work towards achieving political stability in Nepal.

Speaking at the 15th memorial day of former vice president of NC and democratic fighter Shailaja Acharya on Monday, Dr. Koirala highlighted how frequent government changes have hindered the country's development. He stressed that without political stability, development remains elusive and urged democratic forces to reflect on why the country continues to struggle for stability, economic progress, and good governance.

Dr. Koirala paid tribute to the late Shailaja Acharya, describing her as a bold political figure. He suggested that the Nepali Congress can restore its image by adhering to the principles of leaders like BP Koirala and Shailaja Acharya. According to Dr. Koirala, respecting their legacy is crucial for the party's future success. He reiterated the importance of political stability as a prerequisite for the country's development and prosperity.

Leader Dr. Sashank Koirala also spoke at the event, noting Shailaja Acharya's significant contributions to the nation's development. He praised her assertiveness and boldness within the party, lamenting that her contributions have not been adequately recognized. Dr. Sashank Koirala highlighted Acharya's pivotal role in shaping national politics and emphasized the need for the party to honor her legacy appropriately.

Dr. Minendra Rijal recalled Shailaja Acharya's efforts to keep the Nepali Congress unified, emphasizing her ability to maintain equal relations with various leaders. He acknowledged her adherence to BP Koirala's ideology and expressed concern over the current erosion of policy, leadership, and morality within the party. Rijal's reflections underscored Acharya's enduring influence and the lessons contemporary leaders can learn from her dedication and principles.

Former chief secretary of the Nepal government, Dr. Bimal Koirala, remembered Shailaja Acharya as a person of honesty, devotion, and integrity. He noted her initiative in promoting small hydropower projects during her tenure as the minister for water resources, a move that significantly advanced Nepal's hydropower sector. Durga Ghimire, chairperson of the Shailaja Acharya Adarsha Society, underscored the importance of spreading Acharya's ideals to ensure clean and principled politics. Ghimire's call to action highlighted the need for continuing Acharya's legacy in contemporary political practices.
