Kathmandu: Minister for Home Affairs Ramesh Lekhak has emphasized that the Parliamentary Investigation Special Committee on Misappropriation of Cooperatives Deposit Amount will serve as a guiding force for the government. Speaking at a meeting held at the Federal Parliament Secretariat Building in Singha Durbar, Minister Lekhak affirmed the government's commitment to finding a sustainable solution to the problems plaguing cooperatives.
"The government prioritizes resolving the issues surrounding cooperatives. Discussions are ongoing with relevant stakeholders. I believe the Special Committee will guide the government in this endeavor," stated Minister Lekhak, pledging that the government will implement the Committee's directives.
The Committee has urged the Home Minister to expedite the process of apprehending those accused of misusing and misappropriating cooperative funds, whether they are within the country or abroad, and to take appropriate legal action against them.
Committee coordinator Surya Bahadur Thapa Chhetri requested the Home Minister's assistance in recording statements from individuals who have been jailed for cooperative fraud.
In response, Home Minister Lekhak confirmed that the necessary processes have been initiated to arrest those who are absconding after embezzling cooperative deposits. He also assured that the Home Administration would facilitate the Committee in recording statements from those incarcerated for misusing cooperative funds.
Home Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal and Inspector General of Nepal Police Basanta Bahadur Kunwar also attended the meeting.
