CAN Announces Cash Rewards for U-19 Women’s Cricket Team

Kathmandu: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced a cash reward of NPR 250,000 for each player of the Nepali U-19 women’s cricket team, following their historic qualification for the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025.

CAN spokesperson Chumbi Lama also revealed that officials accompanying the team will be honored with NPR 150,000 each.

Historic Achievement
Nepal secured its spot in the World Cup after an eight-wicket victory over the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the final match of the Asia Qualifiers, held in Ajman, UAE. Both Nepal and UAE earned 10 points from six matches, but Nepal advanced on a superior net run rate.

This is the first time Nepal has qualified for the U-19 Women’s Cricket World Cup, which will be hosted in Malaysia in 2025.

Additional Achievements
Nepal has also qualified for the U-19 Women’s Asia Cup, set to take place in December. The tournament will feature teams from Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Nepal.

The announcement reflects growing recognition and support for women’s cricket in Nepal as the team continues to make history on the international stage.
