Kathmandu: Senior Vice Chair of the CPN (UML), Ishwor Pokhrel, highlighted the historic unity between the Nepali Congress (NC) and the UML during pivotal moments in Nepal’s history. Speaking at an event jointly organized by the Nepal Press Union and Press Chautari Nepal to congratulate the newly elected central executive committee of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Pokhrel emphasized the critical role both parties have played in the nation’s historic transformations and crisis resolutions.

"Although the NC and UML often compete politically, they have repeatedly united when the nation faced significant challenges," Pokhrel stated, underscoring the importance of healthy competition between political parties while avoiding harmful rivalries.

He also called on all political parties to prioritize citizens' interests and focus on the nation's development. Additionally, Pokhrel stressed the importance of fostering close ties with neighboring countries, India and China, to further strengthen Nepal’s international relations.

Meanwhile, former Communications and Information Technology Minister reflected on her tenure, emphasizing her commitment to addressing the challenges faced by working journalists. She advocated for a directly elected executive system to ensure political stability and foster national development.

In another event held in Biratnagar, Koshi Province Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki, while addressing the handover ceremony of the newly-elected FNJ Morang Executive Committee, reiterated the critical role of journalism in achieving development and prosperity. He urged journalists to maintain impartiality and dignity in their profession.

These remarks reflect a shared vision among leaders for collaboration, political stability, and the development of a robust, ethical journalism landscape in Nepal.
