Kathmandu: Opposition political parties have called for the immediate commencement of the Federal Parliament's winter session, criticizing the government for delays.

A joint meeting of seven opposition parties, including the CPN (Maoist Centre), Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), CPN (Unified Socialist), Rastriya Janamorcha, Aam Janata Party, and Nepal Socialist Party, was held on Friday. The leaders demanded the urgent summoning of the House session and expressed concerns over the government's withdrawal of bills under discussion in parliamentary committees and its issuance of ordinances.

The opposition coalition also emphasized the importance of concluding Nepal’s peace process and ensuring justice for survivors. Attendees of the meeting included prominent leaders such as Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' (CPN-Maoist Centre), Madhab Kumar Nepal (CPN-Unified Socialist), Rajendra Lingden (RPP), DP Aryal (RSP), Durga Paudel (Rastriya Janamorcha), Tilak Thapa Magar (Aam Janata Party), and Mahendra Ray Yadav (Nepal Socialist Party).

Speaking to media at Biratnagar Airport, Maoist Centre Chair and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal reiterated the demand for an early winter session. He called on the government to withdraw the five ordinances it recently issued and instead seek their approval in Parliament. Dahal highlighted the opposition parties’ shared concerns over governance and legislative processes during their joint meeting.

The opposition alliance has intensified pressure on the government to address their demands and respect parliamentary procedures.
