Kakrebihar (Surkhet): Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has emphasized the need to hold the party's general convention before the next general elections, arguing that delaying it would weaken the party.

Speaking at a program organized by the NC in Surkhet on Wednesday, Koirala dismissed allegations of factionalism, stating that "there is no groupism in the party, and we are all part of the establishment side now." He stressed that the general convention must be held on time as per the party's statute.

Koirala also officially announced his candidacy for the NC presidency in the upcoming convention.

Criticizing the current government, he pointed out that the seven-point agreement signed earlier had yet to be implemented. He further rejected claims that an alliance between two major parties would lead to autocracy, calling such assertions misleading.
