Kathmandu: The ruling Nepali Congress (NC) has reaffirmed its firm commitment to upholding the Constitution of Nepal and strengthening the federal democratic republican system. A meeting of the party’s Central Work Execution Committee (WEC), held on Sunday, emphasized that safeguarding and implementing the constitution remains a national responsibility to fulfill the people’s expectations for progress and good governance.

The meeting concluded that Nepal’s current challenges—such as corruption, social injustices, and weak governance—must be addressed through effective implementation of the constitution. "Moving ahead with confidence in our constitutional responsibilities is crucial at this time," said Dr. Pradip Parajuli, Acting Chief Secretary of the NC Central Office.

The WEC also made key decisions regarding the party’s international liaison committees. It decided to categorize memberships into two types: active membership and liaison membership. Furthermore, the chairperson of each liaison committee will automatically be recognized as both a general convention representative and a member of the party’s Mahasamiti. The committee resolved that each country’s liaison committee can nominate up to 14 general convention representatives and six members to the central Mahasamiti.

In addition, the NC strongly condemned the recent demolition of the house belonging to Dipak Malik in Aurahi Rural Municipality-5, Siraha district. The house was allegedly razed to prepare land for a religious function. Terming the act “deplorable,” the party demanded legal action against those involved in the incident.
