Ilam Welcomes Foreign Ambassadors on New Year Eve with Cultural Festivities

Ilam: In a vibrant celebration marking the eve of the Nepali New Year 2082 BS, Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, along with 15 ambassadors from various countries, arrived at Kanyam in Ilam district as part of a special diplomatic and tourism promotion visit.
Organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Nepal Tourism Board, in coordination with Suryodaya Municipality, the visit aimed to highlight the beauty and tourism potential of Ilam—a renowned hill destination famous for its lush tea gardens and scenic landscapes.
A total of 45 high-ranking officials joined the delegation, including Foreign Ministry Secretary Amrit Rai, representatives of the Nepal Tourism Board, and ambassadors from countries including Egypt, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Thailand, Australia, France, Israel, and Japan.
Upon arrival, the dignitaries were warmly welcomed by the local municipality at Shreeantu with a cultural display featuring panchebaja—a traditional Nepali folk music ensemble. The gesture offered a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of eastern Nepal.
This visit is part of the Ministry’s annual program to engage diplomats with Nepal’s natural and cultural attractions and promote tourism diplomacy. The event also aimed to foster deeper ties between Nepal and the participating nations, while showcasing the potential of Ilam as a destination for both domestic and international tourists.
