Kathmandu: The Election Commission has announced that the by-election for the vacant House of Representatives seat in Ilam and the Provincial Assembly member seat in Bajhang will take place on April 27.
The statement, issued by the Commission's Assistant Spokesperson Thaneshwor Bhusal on Sunday, clarified that the by-election will be held in constituency no. 2 of Ilam and for the Province Assembly member (A) in Bajhang.
The House of Representatives seat in Ilam became vacant following the passing of Subash Chandra Nembang, while the Province Assembly member seat in Bajhang is unoccupied after the demise of Prithivi Bahadur Singh. Assistant Spokesperson Bhusal stated that the election date for both constituencies was determined in accordance with election laws.
In light of the scheduled by-election, the Commission has temporarily postponed the registration of voter lists.
