Kathmandu: The Election Commission has reminded individuals, groups, and institutions to strictly comply with the election code of conduct ahead of the House of Representatives elections scheduled for Falgun 21. The reminder follows recent incidents of violations and a rise in related complaints.

Government and Public Officials Under Full Coverage
The Commission stated that the code of conduct fully applies to the Government of Nepal, provincial governments, ministers, and officials at all levels. Local executives, government employees, and officials of public and semi-government institutions are also required to follow the rules.

Constitutional bodies, security agencies, public office holders, and officials involved in election management and monitoring are equally subject to the code.

Political Parties, Media, and Educational Institutions Included
Political parties, their affiliated organizations, candidates, and election representatives must comply with the code. Media institutions, journalists, schools, colleges, universities, and their staff are also covered under the regulations.

Similarly, private banks, financial institutions, cooperatives, business sectors, and private organizations, along with their employees, fall within the scope of the code.

Voters and Organizations Also Covered
The code of conduct applies to voters, election observers, supervisory bodies, development partners, voter education organizations, and project staff working with government and semi-government bodies.

Reminder Issued Following Violations
The Commission issued the reminder after finding that some local executive officials had participated in election campaigning in violation of the code. It emphasized that the code of conduct applies equally to both government and private sectors and urged all concerned to maintain discipline and integrity during the election period.
