Kathmandu: Foreign Minister Dr. Arju Rana Deuba has assured that the government is fully committed to rescuing every Nepali citizen currently in conflict-hit Iran and Israel, should they wish to return home.

Speaking after a high-level meeting at Singha Durbar with ministers and senior officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Labor, Home Affairs, and Tourism, Minister Rana emphasized that the government is closely monitoring the ongoing conflict and has activated necessary mechanisms for rescue and repatriation.

“We are ready to bring back even one Nepali if they want to return,” she said, highlighting that the government is capable and prepared to evacuate its citizens from any war-affected area.

Minister Rana shared that since the outbreak of hostilities, the government has issued a travel advisory and launched a portal to collect details of Nepalis currently in Israel and Iran. As of now, 603 individuals have registered their information, of whom only 20 have expressed a desire to return.

To strengthen efforts, Minister Rana announced the upcoming launch of a dedicated mobile app on Sunday to allow all Nepalis working abroad to register their whereabouts and status. The app aims to create a comprehensive and accurate database, including details of those who may have gone abroad through irregular channels.

She also stated that she would formally request India’s Ministry of External Affairs to facilitate the evacuation of Nepalis alongside Indian citizens when such operations are carried out.

According to estimates, over 2,000 Nepalis are currently in Israel, and discussions are ongoing regarding the status of Nepalis residing in Cyprus and Jordan.

Minister Rana concluded by reaffirming her commitment to take all necessary diplomatic and logistical measures to ensure the safety and repatriation of Nepali nationals in any affected regions. She also urged all citizens abroad to register their details through the new app to help the government plan effectively.
