Nepali Congress Central Working Committee Meeting Extended, Set to Conclude Monday

Kathmandu: The ongoing Central Working Committee meeting of the Nepali Congress, which began on Ashad 16, has been extended until Monday, Ashad 23. Although initially scheduled to conclude on Sunday, the meeting was extended after all scheduled speakers could not complete their statements.

The meeting, chaired by Party President Sher Bahadur Deuba, is being held at BP Smriti Bhawan in BP Nagar. Members are presenting their views on 13 key agendas, and as of Sunday, a total of 133 members have spoken.

Sunday Highlights
On Sunday, 29 individuals, including Joint General Secretaries Farmullah Mansur, Mahalaxmi Upadhyay 'Dina', Bhishma Raj Angdambe, Mahendra Yadav, Kishore Singh Rathore, Badri Prasad Pandey, and Jeevan Pariyar, addressed the gathering. Treasurer Umesh Shrestha also shared his views.

Senior central members including Gopalman Shrestha, Prakashman Singh, Bimalendra Nidhi, Vijay Kumar Gachhadar, Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Dr. Shashank Koirala, Spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, and Ministers Ain Bahadur Shahi, Bal Bahadur KC, among others, participated actively.

Previous Days’ Summary
Friday saw 33 speakers including senior leaders like Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, Deepak Giri, Dilendra Prasad Badu, Sujata Pariyar, and Ministers Tejulal Chaudhary and Ramnath Adhikari.

Thursday’s meeting featured 20 members including Arjun Narsingh KC, Surendra Raj Pandey, and Ajay Babu Shiwakoti.

On Wednesday, 16 speakers including Shyam Kumar Ghimire, Mohan Bahadur Basnet, and six invited provincial presidents shared their views.

Monday and Tuesday saw 10 and 25 members speak, respectively.

The meeting was paused on Saturday for a day off.

Internal Rifts and Concerns
Throughout the sessions, there have been instances of internal blame games, with some leaders accused of attempting to shift personal failures onto the party. While a few resorted to counter-accusations to shield themselves, most expressed concern over the current political landscape, organizational challenges, and preparations for the 15th General Convention.

The meeting is scheduled to resume at 2 PM on Monday, and the party leadership is expected to finalize and announce decisions on the discussed agendas by the end of the day.
