Kathmandu: CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has demanded that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli be brought under investigation for his alleged involvement in the manipulation of provisions related to the 'cooling-off period' in the Federal Civil Service Act.

Speaking at a program in Kathmandu on Saturday, Dahal alleged that the attempt to remove the mandatory two-year cooling-off period—which was originally agreed upon unanimously—was orchestrated under the leadership of UML lawmakers in the National Assembly, and claimed the Prime Minister himself was complicit.

"At first, we suspected indirect involvement, but now the actions of UML lawmakers make it clear—PM Oli must take responsibility," said Dahal. He insisted that fraud, corruption, and dishonesty have become defining features of the current government, which he accused of conspiring to weaken the integrity of civil service reforms.

He further stated that he had officially demanded inclusion of PM Oli within the scope of the ongoing parliamentary investigation, and that Maoist Center MPs had raised the matter in Parliament.

“The UML kept meowing and finally showed its true colors,” Dahal remarked, using a Nepali idiom to suggest the UML's real intentions were always to undermine reform. “This act of tampering raises serious questions about the motives and integrity of the government,” he added.

The controversy over the 'cooling-off period' clause—intended to prevent the revolving door between bureaucracy and politics—has triggered widespread criticism and demands for accountability, intensifying political friction within the ruling alliance.
