Trishuli (Nuwakot): Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Devendra Dahal, has announced that preparations are underway to reopen the Rasuwagadhi border crossing before the upcoming Dashain festival. He informed that the installation of a Bailey bridge has already started at Lhendkhola, where the original Miteri Bridge was swept away by a flood on Asad 24.
Speaking to journalists in Nuwakot on Tuesday after inspecting the Galchhi–Trishuli–Mailung–Syafrubesin–Rasuwagadhi Road Project, Minister Dahal said the government is committed to ensuring that the tri-country international highway becomes operational in time for the festival season.
The road, which is being developed as an important trade and transit link between Nepal, China, and India, suffered a major setback when the flood destroyed the Miteri Bridge—widely regarded as a symbol of Nepal–China friendship.
“The concerned authorities have already been mobilized to ensure the Galchhi–Rasuwagadhi highway is functional before the festive period,” said Minister Dahal. He added that an agreement has been reached with the Chinese government to support the operation of the Syafrubesin–Rasuwagadhi road section, ensuring better connectivity and smoother cross-border movement.
