Over 2,800 Disaster Incidents Reported in Nepal in Four Months; 126 Dead
Fires Top Disaster List, Followed by Landslides and Floods

Kathmandu: Nepal has witnessed 2,853 disaster incidents in just four months, from last April to mid-July, resulting in 126 deaths and 585 injuries, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
The data reveals that 23 people remain missing, while 5,041 families have been affected by these disasters. The highest number of incidents were fires, accounting for 1,114 cases, followed by 317 landslides, 216 floods, 245 lightning strikes, and 277 storms.
July 31 Saw Heavy Damage and Casualty
On July 31 alone, the country faced 7 fires, 8 landslides, and 5 floods triggered by incessant rains, leading to one death and property damage estimated at over Rs 3.8 million.
Authorities reported that 140 police personnel were deployed for search, rescue, and relief operations to assist affected communities.
