Kathmandu: CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has urged party leaders and activists to unite and take to the streets in protest, warning that there is no alternative to mass agitation.

Speaking at an event in Kathmandu on Saturday, Prachanda said that those involved in the movement should be ready to face jail, prison, and even torture once again. He stressed that Dalits cannot achieve their rights merely through the passage of laws like the “Dalit Act” or by forming authorities in parliament.

Admitting that his past influence is no longer the same, Prachanda remarked, “During the peace process after the people’s war, the organization was small, but we had TAP, RAP, YCL, and the army. When I went to vote during the election, people understood what Prachanda stood for. Now, that’s not the case.”

He clarified that he was not advocating for the formation of an army again but emphasized the need for peaceful demonstrations. “After the festivals, we will take to the streets, making the roads our main base for protest,” he said.
