Kathmandu: The Gen-Z generation took to the streets at Maitighar Mandala on Monday morning, staging a protest against the government’s recent ban on social media platforms.
The protest, which began at 9 am, was organized with official permission from the District Administration Office, Kathmandu. Gen-Z, referring to young people born between 1997 and 2012, had been mobilizing through social media over the past few days to voice discontent against the ban, as well as against corruption and nepotism.
According to organizers, the demonstrators plan to march from Maitighar to Baneshwor at around 11 am. Reports suggest that some public representatives and political leaders have also expressed support for the movement.
