206 Escaped Prisoners, Including Rabi Lamichhane, Return to Nakkhu Prison

Lalitpur: A total of 206 prisoners who escaped from Nakkhu Prison in Lalitpur during the ‘Gen-G Pusta’ movement on Bhadra 24 have voluntarily returned to prison.
Rabi Lamichhane Among Returnees
According to the Nakkhu Prison administration, the returnees include Rastriya Swatantra Party President Rabi Lamichhane. They surrendered after the administration issued a public appeal urging all escaped prisoners to come forward and comply with the prevailing legal process.
Prison Administration’s Statement
Nakkhu Prison houses 1,281 prisoners across three blocks. Out of these, 206 have already returned, and some others have established contact with prison authorities, said Murari Karki, Information Officer at the prison.
The prison administration has called on remaining escapees to surrender immediately, citing respect for the law and the need to maintain public peace and order.
Warning of Legal Action
Authorities have warned that those who fail to return will face action under the Prison Act, 2079 BS, and other prevailing laws. At the same time, the administration pledged to protect the rights and interests of those who surrender and to provide support for their rehabilitation process.
